Poland. Medallion / plaque, Stanislaw August Poniatowski (150 x 180 mm).

This stately piece commemorates the controversial ruler of Poland. On September 7, 1764, Stanislaw August Poniatowski was elected king of Poland. One of the greatest achievements of this ruler was the convening of the Four-Year Sejm and the adoption of the May 3 Constitution in 1791.The period of his reign from 1764 to 1795 is controversial. On the one hand, his efforts to enlighten the country in the second half of the 18th century are appreciated, while on the other he is held responsible for the collapse of the Polish state.

The final image of Stanislaw Augustus in the eyes of the public was determined by a clash of facts: the defeat of the Polish state and the revival of this state by patriotic émigrés," said historian Professor Henryk Wisner.
Stanislaw August Poniatowski was the last king of Poland. Dimensions 150 x 180 mm, bronze, weight 704 g. Good state of preservation.
