This exceptionally striking and rare medal pays tribute to the glorious grenadiers and their victorious battles fought between 1792 and 1814. Nearly 200 places are inscribed on the circular cardboard fiche inside the medal, along with dates where the French army triumphed.

Hibbert believed that the support the Allied soldiers received from the people of Gelderland was underestimated. Hibbert managed to forge an honorary sword on this commemorative medal after a fundraising campaign among veterans, and it was presented to the people of Gelderland by General Urquhart in 1984. This sword currently hangs in the Arnhem provincial government building.
