Royal Harmony Society, founded in 1814. 50 members.
Directors: Messrs. P. J. Geeraerts, president; Félix Grisar and F. Van den Wyngaert, directors; Jean De Neuf, secretary; J. A. Buyssens, conductor.
The society opened a harmony competition in 1825, in which societies from various cities in the kingdom participated, both 1st and 2nd class, as well as from several municipalities.
In 1827 in Brussels, the society won second prize for performance. In 1830, it won first prize for performance and a medal for best performance.

In 1828, the society opened a major musical composition competition for the ensemble, in which all composers in the kingdom were admitted. Fifty scores were submitted to the board; namely: 24 overtures. - 17 varied melodies. - And 9 medleys
The association further supported the art of music, establishing in 1827 and maintaining at its own expense a music school to which all members have the right to send young people from their families to receive free tuition, and in which several excellent students were educated.

The association gives brass band concerts every Sunday at its summer headquarters, outside the walls of the Chaussée de Malines, and organizes several festivals each season. In winter, it gives symphonic concerts every Sunday at noon in the Cité en Ville hall, featuring outstanding artists. The association is primarily known for its beautiful festivals, and among many others can proudly mention the one held in 1827 to celebrate the mayor's presentation of a silver lyre, a gift of the Regency, as well as the May 27, 1829 festival, which was honored by the presence of His Majesty William I, King of the Netherlands, who, on that occasion and in recognition of all that the association has done to develop, support and promote the art of music, granted it the title of Royal Society by decree on November 7, 1829.

This association forms the musical arts section of the Antwerp Art, Literary and Scientific Circle.

On July 5, 1842, the association won the 2nd prize for cities with the first place in Mechelen.
On August 9, 1842, the association won 1st prize for cities with first place in Ghent.
The jury awarded both prizes unanimously. The society was then headed by the late Mr. Léon Kennis, a musician of extraordinary talent, who retired on February 14, 1843, and was succeeded by Mr. J. S. Eykens. Under the leadership of this distinguished composer, the society won 2nd prize among 1st place cities and an honorary prize at a competition in Louvain on September 3, 1843.
