In 1830, the Belgian Revolution erupted, leading to Belgium's independence from the Netherlands. This uprising was fueled by various factors including liberal ideals, religious differences (Catholic Belgians against the Dutch Protestant rule), and economic grievances. The revolution began in Brussels following a performance of the opera La Muette de Portici, which incited riots. A provisional government was formed, and on October 4, 1830, they declared Belgium's independence
