Jarosław Iwaszkiewicz (1894 - 1980)
A great writer, emotionally attached to Sandomierz for many years.
At his last meeting with readers in this city, in the summer of 1979, he said:
"My ties with this town with a thousand years of history go back more than half a century. I rented an apartment here for the first time in 1936. Then, for many years, I tried to come to Sandomierz every year and became very attached to this town. I chose it when it was still little known, which flatters my pride. I wrote a whole series of works here
in my apartment on Katedralna Street, including the entire Lato w Nohant (Summer in Nohant). I first wrote about Sandomierz in 1922."
