The medal “For the Suppression of the Polish Uprising” was awarded from 1865. The decoration was established by Alexander II's decree of January 1, 1865. The light bronze version was awarded to soldiers from privates to generals, militia, Cossack regiments, and peasants who assisted the tsarist army in fighting the insurgent troops during the January Uprising of 1863-64.
