The history of the Polish emblem
Another formal modification took place after World War II. In 1947, a competition was announced for the design of the emblem of the Polish People's Republic, but the entries were not taken into consideration (as was the case in 1919). Pursuant to the Decree of the Council of State of December 7, 1955, the eagle was deprived of its crown. The golden border of the coat of arms also disappeared. Incidentally, it was then that the term “emblem” was used, which has remained with us to this day. The White Eagle regained its crown only in 1989 thanks to the Act amending the Constitution of the Polish People's Republic.
