Since the 15th century, the community had its confraternity in Célestins, in the chapel of the Ten Thousand Martyrs, before moving to the Hôtel-Dieu. The decision to grant this token was made at a general meeting of the confraternity on June 12, 1755. Scholarships of sixty tokens were distributed to two trustees, a treasurer, a secretary and two chancellors, as well as to former chancellors who are still alive, and to any new officers of the fraternity in the future.
