The Egyptian boy pharaoh, King Tutankhamun, also called King Tut, is the most intriguing and famous Egyptian ruler. His tomb was discovered in 1922, by George Herbert and Howard Carter, the renowned British Egyptologists, and became an international sensation. At that time, he was a relatively unknown Egyptian pharaoh and was lost to the history of the world, yet the intact gold coffin containing his remains has proven his majesty. Tutankhamun became the 12th Pharaoh of the 18th Egyptian dynasty at the age of 9 or 10, in 1332 B.C., due to his father’s untimely death. Since he was so young, he had to rely on his trusted advisers to rule over Ancient Egypt during his nine years of reign. However, King Tut received recognition for restoring the traditional Egyptian values and reversing some of the changes performed during his father’s reign.
The US-based Scottsdale Mint issued these spectacular coins under the Republic of Chad legal tender, to showcase the majesty of this exceptional young pharaoh. This 5 oz. 999 pure silver coin is the first issue in the newest Egyptian Relic Series and was struck with a hand-brushed antique proof finish, having an impressive 11.8 mm thickness and chiseled stone looking edge. The incuse design of the obverse side of the coin is a replication of the hand-carved Egyptian hieroglyphic image of King Tut while the reverse side features the Republic of Chad’s coat of arms. This distinct appearance and thickness make the coin look ancient as if it was being used for thousands of years. For this reason, this stunning 2016 5 oz Republic of Chad 3000 Francs Silver King Tut Coin is a treasured keepsake for any ancient history enthusiast and a wonderful gift option for passionate collectors!
