Very rare variant with STAR and CROSS at the end of the inscription, and the coin was struck with the dies reversed.

KOD: 5409163RMA

Parchimowicz, item 170.a.1, with an “amateur price” (c.a.) and a single listing: PDA/PGNUM 04/2010, 13/401.

The reversed die (obverse to reverse) in this case is indeed something unusual compared to other issues of the era. It is the result of poorly paired dies on the coin press. Coins issued during the reign of Stefan Batory in Gdańsk and struck using a coin press are characterized by exceptional precision and craftsmanship. Therefore, the only known instance of reversed dies on the die-striking machine pertains solely to this variety of the grosz with a star and a cross (all coins of this variety are reversed). Most likely, this error was noticed and corrected fairly quickly, which is why this variety is extremely rare; only a few listings can be found in auction archives.
