This book, which complements the study of coins from the People’s Republic of Poland, follows on from the 2018 edition of the Catalogue of Proof Coins. It covers all circulation, commemorative and collector’s coins, shown in their actual sizes and as enlargements. In large, clear enlargements, it presents mint marks, designers’ monograms, and details that are unknown or have not yet been described. It clarifies many controversial issues, such as the ‘sunbursts’ and ‘blades of grass’ on the five-złoty coins featuring a fisherman. It contains the first study of circulation coins struck by the Warsaw Mint using a mirror die, and illustrates the differences between the dies. The chapter devoted to damaged circulation coins is also innovative. It brings together and displays, in clear enlargements, around 170 coins. As a second edition of the catalogue PRL Trial Coins is unlikely to be published, the book includes an additional section serving as a supplement to the aforementioned catalogue.
