Augustin Dumon-Dumortier, born on December 4, 1791, in Lille, died on January 28, 1852, in Tournai, was a Belgian industrialist, diplomat, and liberal statesman.
The son of a merchant from Lille, Augustin Dumon became a sugar trader and producer. He settled in Tournai after marrying Euphrosine Dumortier, daughter of Pierre Ignace Joseph Dumortier, a wealthy industrialist from Tournai, and Euphrosine de Rasse (sister of Charles-Henri-Joseph de Rasse). They became the parents of Auguste and Henri. His granddaughter, Berthe de Grand Ry, married Viscount Alfred Simonis.

Naturalized by the provisional government on November 5, 1830, Augustin Dumon-Dumortier became a councilor in Tournai that same year. Elected senator for the district of Tournai in 1835, he sat in the Upper House until his death. The king offered him the leadership of the state three times, but Dumon-Dumortier rejected the offer. In 1847–1848, he was briefly governor of the province of Hainaut, and in 1848–1852 he served as mayor of Tournai and president of the Belgian Senate from June 27, 1848, to January 28, 1852.
In 1849, he was sent to the Netherlands as minister plenipotentiary to attend the coronation of William III.
