The “Colonial Days” held in Brussels in July 1926 were propaganda and charity events organized under the patronage of the king to celebrate the colonial enterprise in the Belgian Congo, shaping the image of a supposed civilizing mission in the eyes of the Belgian public. The event combined economic promotion of the colony with fundraising and social welfare initiatives. Artistic posters (such as the one designed by Gusto in 1926) and commemorative bronze medals were issued to mark the occasion.
